Why Chinese Kitties?

Hello friends! As my first post, I felt it necessary to explain why I titled my blog "Chinese Kitties." But it has to be broken down into two parts; first, anyone who knows me, knows that I love Chinese, but I also love English, and I love teaching kids.. so at this point in my life, I haven't chosen which path to go down. (And hopefully I won't have to choose one, but more on that later).

Lately, I've been working at a Chinese school and trying to come up with ways to interest the ABC (American Born Chinese) community, because as common with all kids, who wants to be stuck in school after 7 long hours already or on a Sat when everyone else is playing?

As for "kitties," I love calling my kids "kiddies" and somehow, down the line, kids misinterpreted and thought I was calling them kitties because they're "cute" (direct quotes from the children). I now have children who meow at me, and call themselves "Ms. Wang's kitties," and though I've tried explaining, kids will be kids and continue to meow at me. But regardless of whether they're my kids, or my "kitties," I love these children with all my heart and want to encourage each one of them to reach their full potentials.

Therefore, the purpose of my blog will be to post up worksheets that I've made or ideas that I've had to try and interest my students in learning, most will be directed towards the Chinese culture, probably about half in English and half in Chinese. I'm working with children between the ages of 5 - 12, but most of them are 5 - 7 years old, so these will be really basic.

If there's anyone out there who likes my worksheets and would like to use them for their own students &/or kids, please feel free! I will most likely be taking things from what I see online and putting stuff together, and will give credit to websites that I take from. =)

Also, for other people out there with great ideas (and I believe all ideas are great!), please feel free to share them with me! I love crafts & worksheets, and am always open to new ideas.
